Kilka dni temu na Bielskiej modelarni rozpoczęła się budowa modelu DH-89A Dragon Rapide. 
Model wykonuje instruktor wyżej wspomnianej modelarni, Jerzy Gieruszczak. Ma on zamiar wykonać wierną makiete znanego samolotu DH 89A Dragon Rapide konstrukcji brytyjskiej z 1934 z wytwórni De Havilland. Model wykonany będzie w oparciu o amerykańskie plany Sweitzer Enterprises w skali 1:6.
Dane techniczne:
Rozpiętość: 2440 mm
Długość: 1765 mm
Masa: 7-8 kg
Napęd: dwa silniki dwusuw 10-12cm3 lub wersja elekto (dane napędu elektrycznego pojawią się w dalszej części relacji)

Prace nad modelem postępują w tempie błyskawicznym. Sklejone i wyprofilowane są obie połówki kadłuba, wykonywana jest podłoga oraz mocowanie skrzydeł. Kratownica kadłuba wykonana jest z listewek balsowych 6x6mm. W rejonie przedziału pasażerskiego kratownica wzmocniona jest sklejką lotniczą o grubości 0,8mm. Mocowanie dolnego płata będzie realizowane za pomocą dwóch kołków z przodu oraz dwóch śrub ø 6mm z tyłu. Model najprawdopodobniej otrzyma następujące malowanie.

Dziś kolejna aktualizacja projektu DH-89A Dragon Rapide. W modelu został wykonany szkielet przedniej części kadłuba tzw. dziób oraz podłoga samolotu. Do wykonania podłogi użyto sklejki lotniczej o grubości 0,8mm. Aby nie marnować sklejki, najpierw został wyciety z tektury szablon podłogi, który był kilkukrotnie dopasowywany i wprowadzane były potrzebne korekty. Następnie tekturowy szablon został odrysowany na sklejce i wycięty. Powstały w ten sposób element podłogi podobnie jak wcześniejszy szablon wymagał kilku przymiarek i niewielkich korekt. Gdy wszystko było już idealnie spasowane podłoga została przyklejona na kleju cyjanoakrylowym do bocznych ścianek kadłuba oraz pół wręg kryjących się w dolnej części kadłuba pod podłogą.
Model dzisiaj został zważony, jego aktualna waga wynosi 0,592kg. Priorytetem wykonawcy tego modelu jest osiągnięcie jak najniższej wagi, gdyż model ma bardzo wąskie skrzydła, a co za tym idzie aby latał bezpiecznie będzie potrzebował odpowiednio dużej prędkości. Można ten efekt zniwelować osiągając jak najmniejszą wagę modelu.

Mimo iż mamy weekend tempo prac nad modelem nie zwalnia. Dziś wykonane i wklejone zostały górne pół wręgi (w tym dwie mocujące górne skrzydło) oraz czub został oklejony balsą.
